Zygomatic Dental Implants in Miami, FL

Affordable Zygomatic Implants in Miami, FL

A zygomatic implant is an anchor for artificial teeth that permanently replaces missing teeth.

Do you need dental implants, but you have experienced significant bone loss in the upper jaw? While traditional dental implants are an exceptional solution for patients who have missing, chipped, or cracked teeth, getting these implants may not be possible for individuals with little to no bone density in the jawbone. Fortunately, at Implant Center of Miami, our experienced staff members can provide you with an alternative solution that also has a high success rate — zygomatic implants.

What Are Zygomatic Implants?

Zygomatic implants are long titanium posts that are inserted into the zygomatic bone (or cheekbone) just below the eye socket. Once placed, these posts function as anchors for custom-made dental implants, which replace missing teeth. Zygomatic implants strengthen and improve your facial structure by allowing your dentist to secure osseointegrated dental implants so you can enjoy a healthy, beautiful, and complete smile again.

Benefits of Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic implants are attractive to patients because they offer a variety of benefits. These benefits include, but are not limited to:

This intervention does not require bone grafting, whereas traditional dental implants may require an extra procedure.

These implants are just as effective as traditional dental implants.

Zygomatic implants function very similarly to natural teeth.

These implants are long-lasting with the proper care, lasting anywhere from 8-15 years.

Am I a Candidate for Zygomatic Implants?

If you are missing one or more teeth in the upper jaw, have experienced dramatic bone loss in your upper jaw, or have experienced previous implant failures, you may be an excellent candidate for zygomatic implants. An ideal candidate is any individual over the age of 18 who does not smoke and has decent overall health. A consultation with an implant specialist will reveal whether or not zygomatic implants are the right choice for you.

The Zygomatic Implant Procedure

The zygomatic implant procedure is performed as an outpatient surgical procedure, and it takes about thirty minutes to complete. This means a patient can receive zygomatic implants in a single appointment! The steps an Implant Center of Miami professional will take during your zygomatic implant procedure are outlined below:

Step One: The patient will be put under using local anesthesia with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

Step Two: Your surgeon will make an incision in your gums.

Step Three: Using specialized, sterilized surgical instruments, your surgeon will drill holes in the zygomatic bone (just below the eye) and fit the titanium posts into the holes.

Step Four: Custom-made dental implants will be attached to each of the posts/screws; this affixes new teeth in the upper jaw within 24 hours in most cases.

Step Five: The incision will be carefully closed with stitches to ensure proper healing.

Step Six: The patient may rest for about an hour after the surgery, but many patients report minimal downtime with zygomatic implants! Following zygomatic implant surgery, the patient may experience minor discomfort that can be controlled with prescription medication(s). Most patients are able to return to work within a few days following the procedure. Avoid exercising or engaging in strenuous physical activity for about two weeks after your surgery so you can adequately heal.
