Sinus Lift Surgery in Miami, FL

Affordable Sinus Lifts For Dental Implants

A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that is performed to raise the sinus floor and create more space for dental implants.

A sinus lift is the procedure that often needs to be performed in preparation for dental implants. This procedure adds bone to an individual’s upper jaw to assure that they have an adequate amount of bone to hold the future dental implants. Essentially, it makes sure that a person has the foundation needed for dental implants to be successful. At Implant Center of Miami, we have years of experience providing Bay Harbor, Coral Gables, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Hialeah and Pompano Beach patients with sinus lift services to prepare them for the dental implants they want and need, and we would be happy to do the same for you

Preparing for Dental Implants With Sinus Lift Surgery

Sinus lift surgery can be utilized for a number of things, including inflammation of the maxillary sinuses or birth defects. However, they are most commonly used to prepare an individual for future dental implants. To prepare for your sinus lift surgery, it is important to follow these steps:

First and foremost, you need to consult with your oral surgeon to see if you are a good candidate for the procedure. This is because sinus lift surgery is not right for everyone.

Once it has been determined that you are a good candidate, the next step is to schedule your surgery.

In the days leading up to your surgery, you will need to stop taking any blood thinning medications. This is because they can increase your risk of bleeding during and after surgery.

On the day of your surgery, you should not eat or drink anything from midnight on. This is because you will be receiving general anesthesia and it is important to have an empty stomach.

After your surgery, you can expect some bruising and swelling. This is normal and will resolve on its own within a few days. However, if you are experiencing a lot of pain or if the swelling does not seem to be going down, be sure to contact your oral surgeon.

Finally, it is important to follow all of your oral surgeon’s post-operative instructions. This will help ensure a smooth and speedy recovery.

Preparing for Dental Implants With Sinus Lift Surgery

A sinus lift procedure is a relatively short procedure, usually about 1-2 hours long, under local anesthesia. It begins when the surgeon makes an incision on the gum line in the back area of your teeth. Once the incision is made, the tissue is lifted from the surface, exposing part of the bone. After this, a small hole will be made in the bone itself, exposing the sinus. The surgeon will then push the sinus upward, and pack the area with the bone graft. The surgeon will then close up the gums using stitches. Dental implants are typically put in once you have completely recovered from the sinus lift procedure, typically after at least six months.

Recovery From Sinus Lift Surgery

Recovery from a sinus lift surgery can take anywhere from three to six months, all depending on how long it takes for the new bone graft to completely fuse with your sinus flooring bone. When recovering, be sure to go easy on your mouth. This means no brushing your teeth for at least 48 hours after the procedure and not drinking from a straw, smoking, or consuming alcohol. Be cautious while you heal, so as not to cause a sinus puncture or perforation.

Sinus Lift Success Rates

Sinus lift procedures are known to be highly successful, with the success rate currently at 95.2% and climbing. This rate is usually determined by how successful the dental implants are and whether they take or not, since the sinus lift procedure is typically done in preparation for the implants.

The Cost of a Sinus Lift Procedure

Like any procedure, there is a cost that accompanies a sinus lift. This cost can typically range on anywhere between $1500 and $2500 per side, depending on which dentistry you go to and the location. This does not include the cost of the dental implants once you have healed from the sinus lift procedure.
